Soybean skins are a by-product of soybean oil processing, accounting for 10% of the total volume of soybean and 8% of the total weight of soybean. Soybean husk is mainly coated by the outer layer of soybean, and its color is beige or light yellow. It is obtained by thermal peeling or crushing and sieving of oil.
Soybean Skin Benefits In the Aquaculture Industry
- Soybean skin contains a lot of crude fibers, which can replace the low-quality straw and hay in the forage of herbivorous animals. Straw has poor palatability, low crude protein content, low mineral content and high lignin content. In the process of drying forage into hay, the nutrient loss due to chemical and mechanical action is more than half, and the utilization rate of herbivores is low. The percentage of NDF, ADF and lignin in soybean peel was 63%, 47% and 1.9%, respectively. The water quality of cellulose is an important factor in the digestion of cellulose in feed. Because of the high crude fiber content of soybean husk and the low lignification degree, soybean husk can replace straw and hay.
- Soybean skin contains adequate protein and energy, which can replace part of the concentrate supplement for ruminants. The crude protein content in soybean husk was 12.2%, higher than that in Maize (10%) and lower than that in wheat bran (17.1%).
